I am ashamed of myself, you can be sure, but I think I’m gonna have to wrap up this blog after 24 drawings instead of going through with the entire month like originally intended…oh well! At least I made it to Thanksgiving! Keeping this blog really made me realize there is SO MUCH to be thankful for—I think it would be better to make it a year long endeavor instead of a month! I’ve gotta put my focus on other things at the moment so those last 6 days of November will have to be cold and full of ungratefulness…oh well.
Thanks to everyone who followed/reblogged/etc etc! It was so fun, I’d love to do another themed tumblr challenge again, especially now that I kinda think I know how this confounded weird tumblr blog works.
Happy Holidays! For the year 2012 let’s all be FULL OF THANKFULNESS!
For Nov 24 I am thankful for finding my Santa Purse’s soul mate.
For the past couple of years it’s been difficult for my family to do a traditional big Thanksgiving because circumstances have made it hard for us to travel and visit family and vice versa…so we’ve made a tradition out of having our Thanksgiving dinner at Cracker Barrel.
If you’ve ever been to Cracker Barrel then you know they have a huge country store attached to the restaurant, and if you’ve been there around the holidays then you know the store becomes absolutely decked out from head to toe in useless, dazzling, gaudy Christmas decor and merchandise (which = money flying out of my wallet immediately)
So last year I bought this little Santa purse (the best $6.48 I’ve ever spent in my life). A year later, what do I find in the Cracker Barrel store?
A MRS SANTA PURSEEEEEEEE!!!
I was thinking for Thanksgiving I should be thankful for something really important, like freedom, or my health, or pilgrim’s making friends with Native Americans and stuff, but you know what? This is really important. Santa Purse has been all alone for an entire year and when I laid eyes on that Mrs Santa purse, I got a little emotional. It was like beholding the beautiful reunion of souls deeply in love after being so painfully apart for so long. Mr Santa and Mrs Santa purse are meant for each other. I’m so happy they are together. I love happy endings.
For Nov 23 I am thankful for striped shirts.
…that I seem to have a plethora of…
I took a long hard look at my closet and realized that 95% of my apparel seemed to be striped. Whaddya know! What is it about stripes that charm me so? I don’t even know but they’re just great and I am drawn to them like a magnet in clothing departments. Actually, I feel like adding stripes to ANYTHING immediately makes it more interesting and aesthetically pleasing. Thank you striped shirts! You are pleasing to my eyes. You are pleasing to my very soul.
For Nov 22 I am thankful for freaky looking goldfish.
I love fancy goldfish. I feel like I could spend hours watching them swim around. I think the celestial eye goldfish are my favorite, but the ones with the crazy gigantic brain thing going on are just so funny. I love that there’s so much variety to them in their shapes and colors and quirks and weird appendages. With all that variety it makes me think they must have different little personalities, too. It just makes me so happy that funny little guys like these exist.
For Nov 21 I am thankful for the bayou behind my house.
I’m ashamed to say, actually, I complain a lot about where I live in Texas…I let the weather effect my mood too much, and the humid and hot atmosphere in Houston is MISERABLE (it’s middle of November and still muggy and warm!!!) In my neighborhood, though, there is a long trail that runs behind some houses that follows a bayou. Despite gross weather conditions, the scenery of the bayou is really pleasant and I love walking my dog along there in the morning or riding my bike. l’m really thankful for it! Beautiful cranes are always hanging out in the water and in the summer you see turtles sunning on the rocks. I’m pretty sure there’s a family of beavers living there too!
For Nov 20 I am thankful for Just Dance 3.
The summer before I went to school this year my sister told me about an awesome game called “Just Dance 2”. My response? “PFFFFFFFT YEAH RIGHT THAT IS DUMBEST SOUNDING GAME EVER I WILL HATE IT”
Well I ended up giving it a chance…and I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVED IT!!!
I’ve been eagerly anticipating the next installment, of course. I flew home to Texas the other day for the holidays…before she even greeted me, my little sister held up the beautiful cellophane wrapped wii game before my eyes that she had just bought. She is a good girl.
SO FUN!!!!! I love the new songs and features! I never would have thought I would love this sort of game so much. The best part about it is it’s the kind of exercise that you forget is exercise—you’re having so much fun you don’t realize you’re sweating and your legs are about to fall off. It’s also helped me come out of my dancing shell. I’ve always been the type to refuse to dance at parties because I felt dumb and didn’t know how. But this game…man, I get SOOOO into it. I get in the ZONE. Also, now whenever I go out shopping or something and a song from the game starts to play I go into a dancing trance.
Thank you JD3. I love you so.
(Oh, and don’t be fooled by the scores in this picture…I totally kick Michelle’s butt at this game)
oops…behind a couple days…time to play catch-up!
For Nov 19 I am thankful for liquid hand soap.
I always become aware of my appreciation for liquid hand soap when I’m forced to use a bar of soap to wash my hands and wind up getting water and suds all over the faucet and then the bar just slides all over the place and makes a mess and then just sits in its own puddle of scum on the sink. Liquid soap, on the other hand…what a marvelous invention!!! So convenient! No hassle, no mess, and the BEST part is you can buy all those crazy flavors so you hands can smell like anything from clean laundry to cranberries to cupcakes. YAY LIQUID HAND SOAP
For Nov 18 I am thankful for McDonalds soft-serve ice cream cones.
I just can’t eat anything from McDonalds anymore (especially after Supersize Me). Their food really grosses me out.
But.
BUT!!!!
Their ice cream is one of the best things I have ever put in my mouth. I’ll take it over Baskin Robbins any day. I don’t want to know what it’s made out of. I don’t care. They’re SOOO GOOOOOOOD. And so cheap! The perfect pick-me-up!
